Sanjay Kumar Chaturvedi is a seasoned social worker with extensive experience in the social sector. His career spanned over a decade in social roles, where he honed his expertise in management, operations, and community development. Driven by a commitment to social impact, he began working full-time in the development sector and founded the Janseva Trust in 2011.Its mission was to empower children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities through initiatives in health, skill development, education, and entrepreneurship, promoting sustainable livelihoods and career advancement to build self-reliant communities across India. Coming from a middle-class background, Sanjay witnessed firsthand the severe economic challenges faced by families in his surrounding community, where poverty perpetuated a cycle of debt.Villagers often had to borrow money for basic necessities, rituals, agricultural needs, and even food. The government’s attitude was also alarming, making it difficult for them to live with dignity. Women, the elderly, youth, and children bore the brunt of this hardship. They worked tirelessly, doing agricultural work, caring for livestock, and managing household chores, yet were dependent on male family members for basic necessities. The lack of positive care made the lives of the elderly miserable and depressing. These early experiences instilled in Sanjay an unwavering resolve to help the underprivileged and promote women’s economic independence. After spending a decade in the social sector in Delhi, he was inspired by Anna Hazare’s movement. This pivotal experience led him to return to Uttar Pradesh in 2011, where in Lucknow he met influential social leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, whose commitment to change further strengthened his resolve. In March 2011, Sanjay, along with his wife, Sunita, founded the Jan Seva Trust. Starting with community initiatives in Ballia and Mau, Uttar Pradesh, Sanjay began full-time social work in 2019 and achieved his true goal of social development. Today, Janseva Trust empowers people across the district by creating opportunities for education, self-employment and skill development, self-reliance, and contributes to making Ballia, Uttar Pradesh and India a self-reliant and economically strong nation.
